ROOTS-REGGAE band Raging Fyah is currently in the recording studio working on its first album for VP Records, which is set to drop in the first quarter of 2016. Bass player Delroy ‘Pele’ Hamilton tells the Jamaica Observer that the new project, which is still untitled, will showcase the band’s growth and development.

“It’s nothing but the positive vibes that fans have come to love from Raging Fyah. It will be rootsrocking reggae music, as usual. The plan is to have a few collaborations but the guest acts are yet to be decided.

But right now, it’s just a lot of work in the studio… working overtime.

We have a few shows coming up along the US east coast and California, then there is our music festival, The Wickie Wackie Music Festival, December 5 and 6, so we want to push the work in studio so we make our deadlines.”

This will be the first official album for VP Records under a recent multi-album deal signed between the two.

Only recently the New York-based record label re-released Raging Fyah’s two previous studio albums Judgment Day and Destiny, which Hamilton notes has been doing well in the North American marketplace.

Hamilton says the association with VP has come about since the band signed a new management deal with Lukes Morgan of reggae band Morgan Heritage. “It was Lukes’ idea to pitch this new project to VP.

We always knew we wanted to be associated with VP. They have such a hold on the US market which is where we want to go.

Our two albums which we released on our own label did well in Europe but we wanted a US presence and Lukes felt VP was the best vehicle into the US market,” he explains.

Hamilton also spoke about what the deal means for the band. “Under the agreement, VP is providing us with a lot of support. This includes touring and packaging the band for the market, which is great.”
