Letters to the Editor
Reneto is capable

Dear Editor,
I write to express my support for Mr Reneto Adams as police commissioner. This is a complete 180-degree turn from where I stood a few days ago, and it came about after listening to him on a radio interview. Mr Adams was articulate and seemed quite capable of leading the police force.
One of the reservations I had about Mr Adams leading the force was that I thought he was too much of a “specialist” to be a good all-round leader. He was well-known, recognised, feared and revered for his attack on criminals. He was head of the disbanded Crime Management Unit and it seemed he did a good job, but I was not sure that he could manage a whole organisation which required more than just leading a sting operation, as we all know that policing requires more than just shooting criminals. But Mr Adams articulated that he would engage all the necessary brains, intelligence, talent and support from within and outside the force to help him carry out his duties.
A good leader is one who can get the right persons to do the right things even if he can’t do them himself. In other words, he must be charismatic and Mr Adams seems to be just that. He touched on his major plan of a massive redeployment of the police that will include all levels of police officers.
