3 killed as bloodletting continues in St James
ST JAMES, Jamaica — Three people were last night killed in separate incidents in St James.
Their deaths come on the heels of seven other people being shot on Thursday night. One of the seven gunshot victims was later pronounced dead.
In the first incident last night, unknown assailants stabbed a man to death on Church Street. The police have identified him as 21-year-old Keith Morgan.
Reports from the police are that around 7:29 pm, Morgan was sitting in a motor car when he was approached by a group of men who stabbed him several times.
He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead, the police say.
In the second incident, two men were killed in Mount Salem, also by unknown assailants, the police report.
Dead are 35-year-old Robert James of Mount Salem Road and Kemoy Nelson of West Gate Hill.
Reports are that about 8:30 pm, the two men were standing on the roadway when two men approached them on a motorcycle and opened gunfire at them.
They were subsequently taken to hospital where they were pronounced dead.
Both incidents occurred even with an existing police-imposed curfew in the Glendevon area of the parish.
The curfew, which began at 6:00 pm on Thursday, remains in effect until 6:00 pm today.
