993 kilos of cocaine seized off Dominican Republic
MIAMI (AP) — Authorities say a South Florida drug task force seized 993 kilograms of cocaine about 95 miles south of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
US Immigration and Customs Enforcement reports in a news release that South Florida High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force took the drugs during an at-sea interdiction last week. Officials estimated the street value of 37 bales of cocaine at $105 million.
Authorities say four people detained with the seizure are members of a drug trafficking organization that brings cocaine to United States through Venezuela and the Dominican Republic.
