AMCHAM to honour Shelly Ann Fraser next Tuesday
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM) will honour female sprint champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce at their prestigious AMCHAM Business & Civic Leadership Awards & Banquet on Tuesday October 13 at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel
Fraser-Pryce is being honoured for her “outstanding contributions to Brand Jamaica”
“Her contribution to Brand Jamaica has been and will continue to be spectacular. She is a first-rate and world renowned Sprinter and frankly deserves this honour. She also has a big philanthropic and corporate social responsibility side. Jamaica is better for it,” AMCHAM President Ron McKay stated.
American Investor Wesley R Edens, Principal, Founder and Co-Chairman of the Board of Directors of Fortress Investment Group LLC, a US$62 billion alternative asset management, and also responsible for bringing natural gas to Jamaica, with plans to be a significant player in the Jamaican economy, will be keynote Speaker at the Awards & Banquet.
The event is being presented in association with GB ENERGY Texaco and will recognize and celebrate recognition of businesses, individuals and non-profit organizations that have been driving and achieving the economic and social progress in Jamaica through ethical leadership, stewardship, and community building activities.
Among the awards are: the Lifetime Achievement Award to an outstanding Civic Leader, Award of Excellence for Corporate Social Responsibility and the Award of Excellence for Civic Leadership.
Past awardees include Richard Byles, Lascelles Chin, Gary “Butch” Hendrickson, Dr Henley Morgan, the late Maurice Facey and the late Olive Lewin.
