Accompong Maroons open nominations for new colonel
ST ELIZABETH, Jamaica – Today is nomination day for the maroons of Accompong Town in northern St Elizabeth, ahead of the election of their colonel which is set for April 16.
Maroon elder Melville Currie, who is playing a supervisory role in support of the Electoral Office of Jamaica, told OBSERVER ONLINE he was aware of five people with an interest in being nominated.
They are incumbent Ferron Williams, Norma Edwards, Elizabeth Campbell, Meredie Rowe, and Viviene Cornish.
Nominations are scheduled to take place between 11:00 am and 2:00 pm today.
