KINGSTON, Jamaica – Police attached to Counter Terrorism and Organized Crime Branch (C-TOC) arrested and charged a businessman for several breaches of the Larceny Act and resisting arrest on Friday.

Charged is 41-year-old Anthony Henry of Waterloo Avenue in Kingston.

Reports are that between August 2014 and March 2015, Henry allegedly collected monies from several persons after he purported to be a motor vehicle importer and convinced persons that he was able to import motor vehicles, motor vehicle parts and other accessories.

It is alleged that approximately J$2,700,000 was paid over to him.

However, after not being able to deliver the items or return the money, a report was made to C-TOC and an investigation was launched. He was subsequently arrested and charged.

Henry is scheduled to appear in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, where he is expected to answer to charges of obtaining money by means of false pretence, conspiracy to defraud and resisting arrest.

He is currently in police custody.
