Challenge to Pryce postponed
ST ELIZABETH, Jamaica – The challenge to Raymond Pryce’s leadership of the People’s National Party’s (PNP) St Elizabeth North East Constituency has been postponed by a week – from tomorrow to next week Saturday.
“The instructions have come from the party headquarters in Kingston for the delegate selection to be postponed from tomorrow until next week, that is all I can tell you,” Hopeton McCatty, chairman of the PNP’s Region Five (St Elizabeth and Manchester) selection committee told OBSERVER ONLINE Friday afternoon.
Santa Cruz Businessman Evon Redman is challenging Member of Parliament Pryce for chairmanship of the constituency organisation and the right to represent the PNP in parliamentary elections which are constitutionally due by late next year.
McCatty said the challenge to another sitting MP, Hugh Buchanan in St Elizabeth South West would go ahead as planned on Sunday (September 6) in Black River. Businessman and former banker Ewan Stephenson is seeking to unseat Buchanan as the PNP’s standard bearer in St Elizabeth South West.
