Cheese-filled container missing from Trinidad port
PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad (CMC) — An investigation has been launched into the circumstances surrounding the disappearance of a container filled with cheese from the port in Port of Spain, Trinidad last week.
The Port Authority’s Security Department will be conducting the investigation.
The police report that the container with cheese, valued at over TT$750,000 (US$111,199.58) arrived at the port last week and when officials completed transactions to clear the container, they discovered that it was missing.
A report was made to the port security department and an investigation was initiated to ascertain how people were able to leave the compound of the Port Authority without the necessary documents.
Investigators believe that people used false documents to remove the container and that the cheese will be sold to unscrupulous business people at bargain prices.
