Cop facing extradition for lotto scam denied bail
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The policeman who is among eight people facing extradition to the United States, for their alleged involvement in lottery scamming was today denied bail when he appeared in the Parish Court of Kingston and St Andrew.
Jason Jahalal’s attorney, Philmore Scott, said in the bail application that his client is not a flight risk.
Scott also disclosed that, although his client’s name was published by the United States of America Justice System in 2015, this did not affect his standing as a member of the Jamaica Constabulary Force.
However, Jahalal was remanded and is expected to reappear in court, with his co-accused on April 28.
Meanwhile, a bail application for Kimberly Hudson, who is eight months’ pregnant, was again denied by Senior Parish Judge Judith Pusey.
