Cops raid KSAC office

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Police officers yesterday paid a visit to the office of the Kingston and St Andrew Corporation as part of an ongoing investigation of parish council offices.

The team of officers, according to KSAC Town Clerk Robert Hill, reviewed some documents at the office. “KSAC cooperated fully with the investigators and will continue to do so,” he said. Hill further stated that “We stand ready to provide any additional information that they require to complete their investigation.”

So far, police form the Major Organised Crime and Anti-Corruption Agency (MOCA) have raided the Manchester Parish Council and the St Catherine Parish Council.

Deputy Director General of the Major Organised Crime and Anti-Corruption Agency (MOCA), Assistant Commissioner of Police Selvin Hay said the raids have allowed for charges to be laid against two people so far.

They are Deputy Superintendent of Road and Works for the Manchester Parish Council Sanja Elliott, 31, and 27-year-old carpenter Dwayne Sibblies, both of a Manchester addresses.

Minister of Local Government and Community Development Desmond McKenzie, whose portfolio covers local authorities, has in recent times spoken out strongly about alleged impropriety and breaches of procurement rules at some parish councils.
