Costa Ricans among 11 nabbed in Westmoreland drug bust
WESTMORELAND, Jamaica — The police have taken five foreigners and six Jamaicans, including an ex-cop, into custody following a major drug bust in Westmoreland early Tuesday morning.
During the over five-hour operation carried out by members of the Transnational Crime and Narcotic Division (TCND) ganja weighing several thousand pounds, a firearm, a Coaster bus, a boat and a motorcar were seized, a police source disclosed.
Reports are that the TCND team carried out the anti-narcotic operation in the Big Bridge area of the parish when several packages of ganja, believed to be destined for the illicit drug trade, were seized.
The 11 people, including five Costa Ricans, were taken into custody for questioning by the Area 1 TCND which is investigating.
