Eager party supporters breach Gordon House barricades
KINGSTON, Jamaica – It was pandemonium outside Gordon House as Prime Minister Andrew Holness and Opposition Leader Portia Simpson Miller arrived a short while ago for the resumption of Parliament.
The sounds of the vuvuzuelas intensified as party supporters who were on opposite sides of Duke Street cheered on the officials.
Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) supporters chanted “Andrew…Andrew…Andrew” amidst the clanging of bells while PNP supporters shouted “we say Portia!”
The excited JLP supporters breached the barricade and followed the prime minister and his wife near the entrance to Gordon House but were ordered by Daryly Vaz to go back behind the barriers.
Meanwhile People’s National Party (PNP) supporters tried to do the same but were restrained by the police, which resulted in some of them hurling expletives at the cops.
