AN exotic dancer who reportedly stabbed and killed the father of her child during a domestic dispute has been charged with murder.

The 22-year-old accused, Yanique Campbell, of Racecourse Lane, Kingston 4, is scheduled to return to the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court on August 29 for a preliminary hearing.

The man, Romeo Evans, 20, was killed on February 5. Campbell, who was seven months’ pregnant at the time of killing, told the police that she and Evans got into a fight at their home after she told him to turn down the music that he was playing which was very loud and vulgar and was disturbing their Christian neighbour.

Campbell said Evans, who often abused her, punched her several times during the incident and threw her against the wall

According to the police, a knife was used to stab Evans in the left side of his chest during the dispute and he was rushed to the Kingston Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Campbell was then taken into custody and charged.

When the matter was mentioned in court yesterday, Resident Magistrate Lorna Shelly Williams set the matter for a preliminary hearing and extended Campbell’s bail.
