Farmer arrested at airport for ingesting 15 pellets of ganja
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Forty-one-year-old Richard Morris, a farmer of Nine Miles, Spaulding in Clarendon, was arrested and charged for breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Act, yesterday.
Reports from the police are that about 3:15 pm, Morris arrived at the Norman Manley International Airport (NMIA) and checked in on a flight destined for Barbados.
He was stopped and interviewed by the police. As a result of inconsistent answers to questions he was asked, personnel from the narcotics office at the NMIA asked for secondary checks to be done.
A sample of his urine was taken which allegedly tested positive for ganja contamination. Morris then confessed to ingesting ganja pellets and was taken to hospital where he was medically examined. He later passed 15 pellets of ganja weighing 0.4 pounds from his body.
He is scheduled to appear in the St Andrew Parish court on Friday, July 29.
