Gunman disarmed during foiled robbery
ST JAMES, Jamaica — The Montego Bay Police are lauding the efforts of a St James woman and man who disarmed a gunman following a robbery in Bay West, Montego Bay in St James yesterday.
Reports are that about 10:15 pm the woman was walking along the roadway when she was pounced upon by the gunman, who robbed her of a cellular phone, valued at J$9800.
A struggle allegedly ensued between the gunman and the woman during which the attacker was stabbed and the cell phone retrieved.
A licensed firearm holder subsequently intervened and disarmed the gunman.
The weapon, a Smith and Wesson semi-automatic pistol along with eleven 9mm rounds of ammunition, the attacker and the cell phone were handed over to the police.
The identity of the man is being withheld until charges are proffered.
