Haiti bans Dominican meats due to avian flu
PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (AP) — The Haitian government is banning the sale and importation of meat and other goods from neighbouring Dominican Republic following reports of cases of avian flu in that country.
The advisory prohibits until further notice the importing of meat products, poultry, eggs and animals that may be carrying the avian flu. The sale of such goods is also prohibited. The ban takes effect immediately.
Haiti’s Commerce Ministry made the announcement Thursday.
