KINGSTON, Jamaica — The National Water Commission (NWC) says that some of its water supply systems in Trelawny, St James, Hanover and St Elizabeth are currently out of operation due to high turbidity.

As a result, customers served by several facilities in the parishes will be without piped water until the turbid conditions subside.

Affected facilities are:

Trelawny: Sherwood which serves Sherwood, Peidmount, Reserve and Coxheath;

Ulster Spring, which serves Ulster Spring, Albert Town, Bamboo, Freeman’s Hall, Lot and German Town; and Troy, which serves Troy and New Hope.

St James: Vaughnsfield which serves Maroon Town, Flagstaff, Shaw Castle, Brown’s Town and Georges Valley;

Tangle River which serves Carlton, Summer Hill, Point, Tangle River, Maldon and sections of Maroon Town; and Niagara which serves Niagara, Johnson Town, Elderslie and Accompong.

Hanover: Cascade which serves Cascade, Pondside, Great Valley, Jericho, Retrieve, Claremount, Smithfield, Willoughby and Cold Spring.

St. Elizabeth: Siloah which serves Union, Raheen, Marlborough, Russell Hill, Phoenix Park, Balaclava, St Pauls, Roses Valley, Comfort Hall, Content, Free Town, Evergreen, Mount Pleasant and Beverley.

High turbidity is the existence of a large amount of sediment in the water.
