Holness tells Councillor Devon Wint to resign
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The Opposition Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) says, Devon Wint, the councillor for the Point Hill Division in St Catherine West Central and it’s standard-bearer for upcoming parliamentary elections, has been asked to resign.
Below is the JLP’s statement on the matter:The Jamaica Labour Party wishes to advise that its representative in the constituency of West Central St Catherine has been directed by the leader of the Party Mr Andrew Holness to resign while he seeks to clear his name.This follows a report of alleged improper conduct with a minor.The party will have further discussions with its leadership to determine the way forward.Wint, who worked for several years as a clerk at the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court in Half-Way-Tree, defeated Dr Christopher Tufton by 15 votes — 211 to 196 — in a run-off to represent the party in the next general election.More information later.
