Impressive clockings in 800m events at Carifta trials
KINGSTON, Jamaica — An impressive 1:51.11-clocking by Spot Valley High’s Tyrese Reid in the boys Under-18 800m capped off day one of the JAAA Carifta Trials at the National Stadium on Saturday.
Reid’s time came against a quality field and is the fastest in the country to the event so far this season.
Calabar’s Kimar Farquaharson also achieved a personal best of 1:52.04 for second with Dugion Blackman (1:53.34) of Jamaica College third.
There was also some excitement in the boys’ Under-20 event won by Ackeen Colley (1:52.11) of Rusea’s High ahead of Agerian Jackson (1:52.31) of Christiana High and the fast finishing Colin Rowe (1:52.56) of Kingston College.
The girls Under-20 event was won by Chrissanni May of Holmwood Technical in a new personal best of 2:09.15, while Cemore Donald (2:08.55) of Edwin Allen finished top in the Under-18 event.
Sherdon Cowan
