Insurance plan launched for Jamaican athletes
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Jamaican Athletes’ Insurance Plan (JAIP) was launched this afternoon at the Office of the Prime Minister.
The JAIP, which is set take effect February 1, 2016, is the Government of Jamaica’s group health, group life and personal accident plan for all eligible national athletes.
The insurance plan comes against the backdrop of commitment outlined in the National Sports Policy of 2013 to pursue the establishment and maintenance of a sustainable health and life insurance, pension and retirement coverage for said national athletes.
Athletes who are members of a national association or federation are eligible.
