JLP questions use of bad gas at airports
ST MARY, Jamaica — Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) chairman Robert Montague has expressed concern regarding the circulation of contaminated fuel in the island and its possible use at the country’s international airports.
“Is the aviation fuel that we have at our international airports safe?” Montague questioned at a JLP rally in St Mary Tuesday night.
He also questioned whether or not the government has requested that the fuel at the airports be tested.
Montague further stated that he believed the government is deliberately putting off the report on the bad gas. He said that although the government has indicated that the report will be ready in 21 days, he believes it will not be made public before the general election.
Contaminated fuel has been in circulation since mid-2015 causing damage to numerous motor vehicles across the island.
Montague Tuesday night also raised questions about the source of the “bad gas”.
In the meantime West Portland MP Daryl Vaz says the JLP is not politicizing outbreak of the Zika Virus (ZIKV) but rather bringing attention to the bungling by the government.
“Labour Party not politicizing ZIKV, but showing up the incompetence of the government,” he told party supporters Tuesday evening.
“If you have a national emergency you have to deal with it in a swift manner,” he stated, adding that the government needed to implement a strategy.
