JLP says debate talks suffered after Dr Phillips entered the picture
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) Deputy General Secretay, Audley Gordon, says that planning for the 2016 election debate “turned on its head” after People’s National Party (PNP) Campaign Director, Dr Peter Phillips, joined the discussions earlier this month.
Gordon told a press briefing at the JLP’s Belmont Road office, that both political parties had signed an MOU from November last year and had agreed to using the 2011 format, with which they were both comfortable.
However, he said that after former PNP MP Raymond Pryce resigned from that post and was replaced on the committee by Julian Robinson, the committee was referred to Phillips for directions.
Gordon commented that, “everything just turned on its head from there”.
