Judge tells woman to take her boyfriend and go
There was laughter in the court after Parish Judge Simone Maddix told a woman, whose boyfriend had admitted to punching her in the face, to take her boyfriend and leave after the woman said that she did not want to continue with the case and was not going to leave her boyfriend.
O’Neil Henry appeared in court on a charge of unlawful wound and pleaded guilty.
The prosecutor told the court that Henry had punched the complainant repeatedly in her face during an altercation on June 20.
Henry, when asked why he had assaulted the woman, said that they had an argument after he saw her texting a man and that they both exchanged blows.
“We start fight and the two a we a lick each other but we came to an agreement that we woulda end the matter,” Henry said.
The judge then asked the complainant if it was true that they both hit each other during the fight, but she told the judge that was not so as she did not assault her boyfriend.
“He is still your boyfriend?” Judge Maddix asked the complainant, who told her that they were still together.
“That’s your bad,” the judge said. “Fighting is your thing; you both like to hit each other.
“Is him alone,” the complainant replied.
“What you want to happen? It’s your man, it’s your boyfriend,” the judge said to the complainant.
The woman, in reply, said that she did not want to continue any further with the case.
Following that, the judge told the complainant: “Take your boyfriend and go.”
