Leader of the Opposition urges citizens to pay close attention to Hurricane Matthew
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Leader of the opposition People’s National Party (PNP), Portia Simpson-Miller, is urging citizens to pay close attention to the movement of Hurricane Matthew.
In a release by the party, Simpson Miller said that the approaching Hurricane is both serious and dangerous and has the potential to destroy lives and property.
She has urged everyone to take the warnings seriously and to move to safer places if the need arises.
Simpson Miller has also called on citizens to assist in the clearing of drains in communities.
She further asked that special attention be given to the elderly, individuals with disabilities and children in the communities, reminding citizens not to cross rivers, gullies or heavy flowing bodies of water during the period of the Hurricane.
“Jamaicans must pay close attention to the news in order to get the latest updates on the hurricane, shelters and other important information,” Simpson Miller said.
