Man attacks woman for allegedly cheating on him
A man, who physically assaulted his woman and threatened to kill her after accusing her of being unfaithful, was fined $20,000 when he appeared in court on Friday.
The court heard that Khaliem Kenton punched the complainant in her face and squeezed her throat.
It was also alleged that he used an ice pick to intimidate his companion and threatened to kill her.
However, he admitted to punching her but denied using an ice pick to threaten her.
“I didn’t use nuh ice pick, but I am sorry,” he said.
“You ever hear a saying, sorry cannot buy soldier lorry?” Judge Pusey asked amidst laughter in the court.
She then questioned why men are usually so quick to assault women for infidelity when they are frequently guilty of being unfaithful.
Kenton then told her: “I would like the chance to make it up to her,” while indicating, “it was just a little disagreement”.
But the judge replied: “I am not into romance, that is between you and her, it’s prison time now.”
She then ordered him to pay $20,000 or serve six months in prison on a charge of assault occasioning bodily harm.
“You can make it up back with her whenever you like,” she said after handing down the sentence.
