Man held with illegal gun charged
KINGSTON, Jamaica – A team of officers attached to the St Ann Police Division seized a firearm and eight rounds of ammunition in Lime Bottom district, Ocho Rios, St Ann, during an operation today.
A man was subsequently arrested and charged. However, the police say his identity is being withheld pending further investigations.
Reports from police in Ocho Rios are that about 11:00 am, they were patrolling the area when a man was accosted, searched and the firearm – a .45 pistol with a magazine containing eight .45 rounds – was found in his possession.
He was charged with illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.
He is scheduled to appear before the St Ann’s Bay Resident Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, June 21.
