Man shot trying to foil hold-up
KINGSTON, Jamaica – A Good Samaritan was shot and injured by a gunman on Collins Green Avenue St Andrew this morning when he intervened in a hold-up.
Residents say two men on bicycles, one armed with a gun, were “patrolling the area from early in the morning” when they stopped and walked into the yard of a male resident and held him up around 9:40am.
The resident’s gold chain was stolen after he was threatened by the two men.
The driver of a passing van stopped his vehicle and tried to ward off the gunmen but was shot once for his efforts.
The two men then made good their escape.
A worker at a nearby business place jumped into the Good Samaritan’s van and drove the injured man to hospital.
The man’s condition is not known.
