Man to be sentenced for trying to steal a lost phone
A man who found a woman’s expensive cellular phone and tried to pocket it instead of turning it over, is to be sentenced on March 29.
Jahele Campbell was charged with larceny by finding after he attempted to steal a Samsung Galaxy S6 phone valued at $90,000.
The court heard that on the day in question the complainant took a taxi and lost her phone in the car.
When she realised that her phone was missing she made enquiries of Campbell, who had been in the car. But he told her that he had not seen the phone. However, when he was searched the phone was found in his pocket.
A report was made to the police and he was arrested and charged.
Last Friday when Campbell appeared in court he pleaded guilty and his bail was extended. His sentencing will be later this month.
