Manchester cops get 25-year sentence for murder
MANCHESTER, Jamaica — Two Manchester cops found guilty of murder on Wednesday were today sentenced in the Manchester Circuit Court to 25 years in prison.
The policemen were charged with the shooting death of Anthony ‘Tony’ Richards in Alligator Pond on New Year’s Day 2010.
The convicted cops, Detective Constables Tyrone Findlay and Leonard Lindsay, will have to each serve 12 years in prison before being eligible for parole.
Richards was reportedly shot during an encounter with the cops who were assigned to the Mandeville Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) but were, for the public holiday, on special duty in Alligator Pond, at the southern end of the parish.
