Medical Council of Jamaica expresses condolence for slain doctor
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Medical Council of Jamaica this morning says it regrets the untimely passing of colleague, Dr Garth Officer.
A statement from the council expressed condolence to the family and friends of Officer, who it said was an exemplary member of the medical fraternity, dedicating his life to caring for his patients.
The statement also said fraternity was saddened the death of a former member of the Medical Council and expressed “consternation” at what it called the “senseless violence that is plaguing Jamaica”.
The 72-year-old Officer who practiced at a Grant’s Pen, St Andrew address was gunned down outside his home on Friday night by unknown assailants.
