Motorcyclist dies in Portland crash
PORTLAND, Jamaica – A man said to be in his early forties died yesterday after crashing while travelling on his motorcycle in Orange Bay, Portland.
Dead is Wayne Williams, who is also known as “Home Boy”, of Anchovy Housing Scheme in the parish.
It is reported that about 5:00 pm, Williams was driving his motorcycle from Buff Bay, when he reportedly overtook about six other motorcyclists at Forty Acre, Orange Bay.
He then allegedly lost control of the vehicle, causing both him and the motorcycle to fall, sliding along the roadway before colliding with a Mitsubishi outlander heading towards Buff Bay.
He sustained serious injuries and reportedly died on the spot.
This brings the number of deaths on Portland roads to five since the start of the year.
The Portland traffic police are investigating.
