Motorist flees after police find gun in vehicle

MANCHESTER, Jamaica — A man, suspected to be the owner of a bag which contained an illegal firearm found in a motor vehicle during a police search in Manchester, is now on the run.

Reports are that the Porus police seized a .38 Colt special revolver with four rounds of ammunition after the driver of a Hiace motor bus was signalled to stop during an operation along the Berrydale main road in Porus.

The driver of the vehicle complied with the cops’ instructions to stop, but took off on foot as they conducted a search of the vehicle and the bag containing the gun discovered.

The police reportedly gave chase but the suspect made good his escape in nearby bushes.
