NWC says it will contribute to Golden Grove road repairs
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The National Water Commission (NWC) today indicated that it will be contributing to covering the costs of effecting repairs to the Golden Grove main road in St Ann.
NWC, explaining its involvement with the road project, said in a news release that last year the water utility was advised of plans to repair the Golden Grove main road.
The commission said it was urged to replace the existing aged pipes along the roadway, prior to this roadwork.
Consequently, the NWC said it mobilised to replace and upgrade more than 120 lengths of its pipeline with a view to facilitating this planned road repair. The commission said this pipelaying work was completed in January, 2016.
“Unfortunately, the planned road repair has not taken place as scheduled,” the NWC said.
Within that context, the NWC said it has renewed discussions with the National Works Agency and remains fully committed to working with the NWA to ensure the completion of repairs of the Golden Grove main road in the shortest possible time.
