Nine arrested for praedial larceny
MANCHESTER, Jamaica – Nine people were taken into custody for breaches of the Agricultural Produce Act and the Public Health Act, following operations carried out by the Praedial Larceny Prevention Unit in collaboration with officers attached to the Clarendon and Manchester Divisions last Friday.
Reports from the police are that between the hours of 7:00 am and 6:00 pm, two snap raids were conducted out at the Christiana slaughter house and the Christiana market respectively resulting in the arrest of the nine.
Some were slapped with multiple charges as follows:
Six individuals were prosecuted for breaches of the Agricultural Produce Act; four for breaches of the Livestock Control Order of 1973; four for breaches of the Public Health (Butchers) Regulations; and two for breaches of the Public Health (Food Handlers) Regulations. The identities of the people taken into custody are being withheld pending further investigations.
