PNP members meeting with Cuba Communist party
KINGSTON, Jamaica – A delegation of 12 People’s National Party (PNP) members, led by the party’s General Secretary Paul Burke, is now in Cuba to meet with the Communist Party of Cuba.
The PNP says it is expected that the delegation (the first of its nature in many years) will hold talks with their counterparts from the Cuban party, covering a range of issues including strengthening the fraternal relationship between both organisations, optimising bilateral opportunities; development challenges facing both countries in the wake of global developments, among others.
The trip, which comes via an invitation from the Cuban Government, will last one week, the PNP noted.
The delegation, which includes vice presidents Noel Arscott and Angela Brown Burke, as well as Deputy Chairman Anthony Hylton, left the island on Monday February 2.
Also among the delegation are MPs Winston Green, Andre Hylton and Richard Azan. The presidents of the PNP’s Youth and Women Organizations (Alric Campbell and Jennifer Edwards) along with Kingston and St Andre Corporation (KSAC) Councillor Eugene Kelly and Political Education Commission Representative Carlene Fenton and Human Rights Commission chair Seymour Stewart complete the delegation.
