KINGSTON, Jamaica – The People’s National Party Youth Organization (PNPYO) wants the controversial and outspoken Everald Warmington suspended from parliament accusing him of verbally attacking government minister Lisa Hanna on Tuesday, referring to her as a “Jezebel and a witch”.

Warmington, the Member of Parliament (MP) for St Catherine South West, reportedly made the comments during discussion on the increase in the minimum wage.

“This is just the latest in a series of unparliamentary and utterly disrespectful behaviour by MP Warmington; behaviour which is absolutely unacceptable from a member of the country’s legislature,” the PNPYO said in a release Wednesday.

The organization also made calls for sitting MPs to write to the Speaker, naming Warmington for disciplinary proceedings at the next sitting of the house, as outlined in the Standing Orders of Parliament.

“While not wanting to halt the business of the nation’s parliament, the PNPYO believes that it’s full time that the other members who must equally consider the behaviour of MP Warmington to be despicable, to halt their participation in parliamentary sittings until and unless disciplinary proceedings are started against MP Warmington,” the PNPYO  release said.

The PNPYO stated that “his action is a clear indication of his disregard for women (as seen in public cases before where he has been disrespectful to female media personnel); his inability to maintain his professionalism as he makes his contribution in Parliament and also his overall disregard for protocol”.
