Phillips remains sole candidate vying for PNP leadership

ST ANDREW, Jamaica — Dr Peter Phillips remains the only candidate in the running to take over the leadership of the People’s National Party (PNP) from Portia Simpson Miller.

Speaking with OBSERVER ONLINE a short while ago at party headquarters on Old Hope Road in St Andrew, General Secretary Julian Robinson said so far there have been no other aspirants, and that there have been no rumblings in the party to that effect.

Meanwhile, it is a festive atmosphere as hundreds of cheering supporters in party colours lead Phillips on to the compound, which is already packed with comrades, where he is about to be nominated.
