Police High Command offers condolences to family of cop mowed down on Highway 2000
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Police High Command has expressed condolences to the family and friends of Constable Malachai Edwards, the policeman who was on Wednesday mowed down by a motor truck in Clarendon.
Read: Cop hit by truck on Highway 2000, dies at hospitalReports are that about 3:30 pm, Edwards was driving his Toyota Corolla motorcar along the Vineyard leg of Highway 2000, when on reaching the Old School Bridge, the car developed mechanical problems.Edwards reportedly exited the vehicle to effect repairs. He was mowed down by an Isuzu motor truck.He received multiple injuries and was taken to hospital where he died while undergoing treatment about 10:40 pm.The driver of the motor truck was breathalysed, issued with a warning notice and released pending the outcome of investigations.The 29-year-old Edwards enlisted in the Jamaica Constabulary Force in 2010 and was attached to Vital Infrastructure Security Division.
