Police constable shot and injured in Westmoreland
WESTMORELAND, Jamaica — A police constable was this morning shot and injured in a shootout with gunmen in Westmoreland.
The constable is reportedly receiving treatment in hospital.
According to reports, residents of Pipers Corner in the parish made a report to the police that strange men were seen in their community.
The police reportedly came under fire after arriving in the area at around 2:00 am. The lawmen returned fire and the men ran in different directions.
It is not clear if any of the men were hurt in the incident which left the constable shot in the upper section of his body.
