Police join Church to help Dunkirk residents
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The police have joined with officials from the Seventh Day Adventist Church to reach out to traumatised residents in McIntyre Villa, east Kingston.
Residents in the community, also known as Dunkirk, have been on edge since four people were shot last week, two fatally including a 17-month-old baby.
“The aim of the visit is to reach out to residents in the area,” said Shain O’Connor, a minister from the church.
The minister made the address minutes before he was joined by members of the Police High Command including Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Area Four George Quallo on a tour of the area.
Quallo commended the move by church group and has given his assurance that the police will also be working closely with residents to bring back peace in the area.
