Police post to be built in West Central St Catherine
KINGSTON, Jamaica (JIS) — A police post is to be constructed in the West Central St Catherine constituency, says Health Minister, Dr Christopher Tufton, who is also Member of Parliament for the area.
Tufton noted that ground is to be broken before the end of the year for the facility.
The announcement was made today, at a ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of 37 residential lots in the Mary’s Field Housing Development by the National Housing Trust (NHT), in Kitson Town, St Catherine.
The Member of Parliament said the police post is necessary, due to the “serious security issues” affecting parts of the constituency.
“It will be located just below the Green Acres Housing Development. The designs have already been drawn up and I am awaiting permission to utilise the land space,” Tufton said.
He indicated that the police post will provide added security not only to existing residents, but also to the new homeowners once the Mary’s Field Housing Development is completed.
Turning to healthcare, the minister informed that the Kitson Town clinic is slated for improvement, and work is scheduled to begin within the next two months.
“That will add services in primary healthcare, including dental services,” he said.
