Police seize four firearms in 12 hours
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Police across several divisions seized four firearms and several rounds of ammunition between Thursday night and Friday morning.
In the first incident which occurred about 9:30 pm Thursday, November 27 reports are that a team of officers from the St Andrew Central Division was on operation in the Glenville Crescent community in Kingston 10, when a man who aroused their suspicion was stopped and searched. The man was found in possession of a 9mm pistol with a magazine containing sixteen rounds and was arrested.
The second seizure occurred in Roehampton, St James, where the Montego Bay Police say that about 1:30 am on Friday, lawmen were on operation in the area when a Toyota Fielder motorcar with three men aboard was seen parked along the roadway. A search of the men and the vehicle turned up a Browning 9mm pistol. The three men were arrested.
A few hours later, about 8:00 am a third seizure occurred in the Gregory Park area of Portmore St Catherine.
Reports from the Caymanas Police are that a police team was on special operations in the area when a .38 revolver was seized. No arrest was made in connection with the seizure.
Less than an hour later, about 8:54 am officers from the Flying Squad and the Mobile Reserve were on operation on Sayres Road, Kingston 10 where several premises were searched. The search revealed a Browning 9mm pistol with a magazine containing twenty-two rounds.
One man was taken into custody in relation to the find, the police say.
