Porn-site mastermind in court November 16

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Accused porn-site mastermind Ronald Oates will next appear in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court on November 16 when a trial date is likely to be set.

The date was set Tuesday after the prosecution told the court that it needed more time to secure an outstanding computer forensic report.

Oates’ $500,000 bail was extended until November.

The accused man is to be tried on charges of unauthorised access and unlawfully making data available for the commission of an offence, unauthorised obstruction, obscene publication, extortion and conspiracy to extort.

Twenty-seven-year-old Oates allegedly posted nude photographs of women on the Internet and is accused of extorting more than $100,000 from victims to remove the offending pictures.

Oates, who is represented by attorney Zara Lewis, was arrested in August.
