Portia arrives in Manchester for NEC meeting
MANCHESTER, Jamaica — People’s National Party (PNP) President Portia Simpson-Miller has arrived at the Hatfield Primary and Junior High School in Manchester for today’s meeting of the party’s powerful National Executive Council (NEC).
The Opposition Leader arrived moments ago, and was rapidly shepherded in by security personnel to shouts and cheers from supporters.
She is expected to announce a timetable for her departure as head of the 79-year-old political party today after announcing at the NEC meeting in Kingston last year that she would not seek re-election as president of the PNP at the party’s annual conference in September 2017.
More information later.
