Portland police capture escapee

PORT ANTONIO, Portland -- The Portland police have recaptured escapee 35-year-old Mark ‘Mafia’ Duncan of Cooling Spring, Hope Bay who was charged with burglary and larceny.

Duncan escaped police custody on Wednesday, January 22 while at the Port Antonio Hospital.

Reports are that Duncan who was handcuffed to a bed at the hospital was able to release himself and make good his escape.

He was recaptured during a search Saturday morning in the Hope Bay/St Margaret’s Bay area of the parish when police stopped a motor vehicle and discovered the escapee hiding in the back.

The driver of the vehicle is being held for questioning and is expected to be charged after investigations.

Additional charges were also slapped on Duncan, who is said to be a repeat offender.
