Portland residents mount more roadblocks
PORTLAND, Jamaica – Portland residents this morning continued their protests against poor road conditions, blocking several main roads leading into neighbouring Portland.
The resident used debris to block the thoroughfare in Manchioneal, Flatt Grass, Long Road and Hector’s River.
The disgruntled protesters said their voices are not being heard and authorities are notresponding to their plight.
They are adamant that they will continue to block the thoroughfare until they see something tangible.
Yesterday’s roadblocks were specially timed to coincide with the opening of the new school year and severely affected a number of students who were forced to walk to school, while others opted to stay home.
