RIU purchases first hotel on St Martin
KINGSTON, Jamaica — International chain RIU Hotels & Resorts has finalised a deal to purchase a luxurious 252-room hotel in the French section of the Caribbean island of St Martin, OBSERVER ONLINE has learnt.
According to information from the hotel, the transaction is worth approximately US$45 million.
The hotel, the first for RIU on St Martin, offers several restaurants, bars, swimming pools, sports and aquatic activities, a mini-club for children, a complete spa and marina, as well as accommodations for events and weddings, the hotel source said.
RIU based in Spain opened its first hotel in Jamaica over 12 years ago in Negril. The company, the first Spanish hotel to invest in Jamaica, now operates five hotels on the island.
