Residents protest Boston Jerk Centre closure

PORTLAND, Jamaica — Scores of angry residents are this morning staging a protest on the Boston main road in Portland close to the popular Boston Jerk Centre and beach.

The residents say they are demonstrating against what they feel is an unwarranted lengthy closure of the Jerk Centre.

The Health Ministry recently ordered the closure of the world renowned jerk centre after its staff visited the location and reported that unhealthy practices were being undertaken.

The Ministry said that despite warnings, vendors did not take steps to improve the unhealthy situation.
