Residents without electricity after Mona Road tanker fire
ST ANDREW, Jamaica — Residents of Karachi Avenue, Long Mountain and sections of Beverley Hills and Mona are now without electricity after an oil tanker caught fire in the vicinity of the Mona High School in St Andrew Thursday afternoon.
The Jamaica Public Service (JPS) in a release a short while ago said “the raging fire from the oil tanker damaged sections of the electricity infrastructure, resulting in loss of power supply to several customers.”
Residents of Hope Pastures and Liguanea were also without electricity but the JPS said their electricity has since been restored.
“JPS crews are on location, assisting the fire brigade with cooling down operations,” the release said.
“The pace of restoration is being impacted by the extent of the damage and the conditions on the ground,” JPS added.
